Marjorie (Neal) Carter 87, of Carver formerly of Plymouth died at Jordan Hospital unexpectedly on August 25. The wife of the late George W. Carter Jr. Beloved mother of Susan Friedman and her husband Mark of Amesbury, Jeffrey Carter and his wife Melodie of Carver, and Debra Carter of Plymouth. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was born in Plymouth, the youngest and the last of the 9 children of Frank T. And Minnie (Hurley) Neal. Marjorie went to Plymouth Schools; she worked as a Nurses Aid at Jordan Hospital for over 20 years and as a Nurses aid for the Plymouth Schools at Nathanial Morton School. She was a member of Christ Church of Plymouth, a member of the Alter Guild for 50 years and sang in the Church Choir for 75 years. Marjorie volunteered at Emeritus Assisted Living Center, she was an avid reader enjoyed the ocean and the Plymouth Water Front. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. (Rte 3A) N. Plymouth on Thursday August 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Parish, on Friday August 30 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the Christ Church Parish Music Fund, 149 Court Street Plymouth, MA 02360. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery Plymouth.

Adelaide L. “Nicky” (Nicholls) Murray, 86, until recently of Carver, died Aug. 31 in Concord, N.H., after a brief illness. Wife of the late Charles E. Murray and former wife of the late Edward P. Tirrell, she was the sister of Benjamin W. Nicholls of Plymouth; the late Feodore M. Hewins of Canaan, N.H.; and the late Claud Nicholls of Hanover.

Born in Brockton and raised in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Claud and Muriel L. Nicholls. She is survived by her daughter Linda M. Sinuc and husband Robert of Glenmont N.Y.; sons Edward Tirrell of Swampscott and William G. Tirrell of Dania, Fla.; daughter Sarah L. Tirrell-Wysocki and husband David of Canterbury, N.H.; and stepdaughters Margaret M. Cahill and husband Tom, and Barbara A. Murray, all of Chesapeake, Va.

In her earlier years, Nicky worked as bookkeeper for Rehabilitation Associates in Dedham, and for Dr. John Angley of Pembroke and attorney Edward Angley.

For many years, Nicky was a trustee and beloved member of the Waldo Congregational Church and its Junior Women’s group in Brockton, where she met many lifelong friends. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother for many years and worked as a volunteer for the HELP LINE in Quincy. In her later years, she was very active in the DAV Auxiliary, serving as treasurer and commander of the Plymouth Chapter 72 and State Chaplain. She was a long-time volunteer at the VA Hospital in Brockton, and more recently, coordinator for the DAV Van Program that served VA patients. While wintering for many years in Florida, she was Secretary/Treasurer of the Deerfield Lake chapter of the Federation of Manufactured Home Owners of Florida.

Nicky enjoyed entertaining friends and family and organizing events for the various veterans’ organizations she proudly served. She also enjoyed being a grandmother to John R. and Adam J. Sinuc; Jaime D., Nora C. and Owen B. Tirrell; and Jordan D. and Hannah J. Tirrell-Wysocki and great-grandmother to Emma H., Madison J. and Lauren M. Sinuc.

Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 6, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., followed by a service from 11:30-12:30, at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Carver. Those unable to attend may remember Nicky by joining her family in ringing a bell in her honor at noon.

Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45.

Junie (Augusto) Delgado, age 81, of Carver, formerly of Whitman and Wareham, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at his home.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late August N. & Mary (Andrews) Delgado. Junie was a well decorated veteran in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid horseman and owner of Delgados Discount Carpet Center, formerly in Whitman. Junie truly loved and enjoyed his granchildren.

He was the beloved husband of Janice L. (Lopes) Delgado; dear father of Denise Boone-Delgado of Kingston, Rick Delgado of Middleborough, Randy Delgado of Wareham, Latisha Delgado of Randolph, Sabrina Kreuger of New Hampshire, Tabitha Anderson of Carver and the late Kim Delgado; loving grandfather of 20 and great-grandfather of 4; dear brother of Mae Pires of New Bedford, Margaret Gomes of Wareham, Napoleon Delgado of Wareham, Lorainne Duarte of New Bedford, Natalie Matthews of Plymouth and the late Madeline Allen, Alice Presley, Edna Canpinha, George Ferry and Manuel Neves.

Loving father of Michael, Laura, Maura Sawtelle and her husband Michael, Lisa, Stephen, Donald, and the late Charles Jr. Proud grandfather of Kathleen and Jonathan Sawtelle, and Daniel and Hannah Morgan. Charles F. Small, of Carver, passed away on September 27, 2013. He was 91 years old. Beloved husband of Alma A. Small. Loving father of Cynthia Noon of Swampscott, Stephen Small, Ph. D and his wife Paula of PA, Linda Wood of W. Peabody and there Mother Theresa MacComisky of Lynn. Cherished grandfather of Ryan Wood of PA, and Christian Wood of Boston.

Charles served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, and was a Captain with the Waltham Fire Department for 36 years. He was a lifelong sailor who loved the sea. He loved life, and was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a friend to all, and will be deeply missed.

Michael J. Davenport, of Carver, formerly of Pembroke, passed away on October 1, 2013. He was 50 years old. Cherished son of “Rene” Davenport of Buzzards Bay, and the late Richard J. Davenport. Loving brother of Marcy Gruenberg of Carver, Corleen Godley of Taunton, and Richard Davenport of Pembroke. Michael is also survived by his niece and nephews, and is the beloved uncle of the late Nicole Davenport.
Michael loved Rock N’ Roll music, dancing, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved the many friends and neighbors that supported him over the years.

Douglas R. Lauzon, Sr., age 79, of Carver, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Bourne Manor Extended Care Facility in Bourne.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Thomas H. & Eugenie (Daignault) Lauzon. Douglas was a veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp., serving his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.

He was the beloved husband of Jill M. (Hirsch) Lauzon; devoted father of Douglas R. Lauzon, Jr. & his wife Elizabeth of Carver, Jennifer A. Saltalamacchia of Wareham and Adam D. Lauzon of Carver; loving grandfather of Andrew F. Lauzon and Craig M. Lauzon, both of Carver; dear brother of Joanne Thompson of Hull and the late Thomas Lauzon, Jr., Robert Lauzon, Florence Turner, Dolly Gavin, Pauline Monroe and Lorraine Monroe. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Jane Dennison Whitford, of Carver, passed away on November 4, 2013. She was 86 years old. Wife of the late Frank L. Whitford, Jr. Born in Newburyport, she is the daughter of the late Leon M, and Elizabeth Cutter Dennison. Loving mother of Gary Whitford of CA, Linda Whitford Fourquet of FL, Lisa Whitford Pearson of Carver, Jill Whitford MacIver of NY, and the late Janis Whitford Larsen. Sister of Ann Dennison Lewis of FL, Lois Baker of NY, Susan Flagg of Hingham, Christine Travelstead of AZ, and Curtis Dennison of MO, and the late Lee Dennison, Linda Dennison White, and Lydia Phillips of Hull. Jane is survived by 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Her witty charm, and keen sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Richard H. Downes, age 88, of Mashpee, formerly of Weymouth, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston.

Born in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late James & Eloise (Hern) Downes. Richard grew up in Somerville. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, and served as a radar operator on a sub-chaser in World War II. He had a passion for the sea and sailing wooden boats. For many years, Richard volunteered for the South Shore Humane Society.

He was the beloved husband for 66 years to the late Betty (Hatch) Downes; devoted father of Lesley & Robert Frazar of Russell, MA and Nancy & Michael Palimeri of North Carver, MA; loving grandfather of six and great-grandfather of six and dear brother of Donald Downes of North Andover, MA.

Funeral and interment services will be private.

Margaret Teresa Quarles Furey, of Carver, and formerly of Boston, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013, at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was 85 years old. She was the beloved wife of Armon S. Furey, and the daughter of the late Henry E. and Teresa (Thomas) Quarles Sr. Margaret was the devoted mother of Karen J. Hall of Raleigh, NC, Glenn M. Hall and his wife Betty of Boston, Anthony C. Hall and his wife Jennifer of Boston, and the late Joseph L. Hall. Margaret is also survived by her step children; Marsha A. Galvez and her husband Jose of Brockton, and Michael A. Furey of Boston. She was the loving sister to Jeanne Q. Tibbs of Boston, and the late Henry E. Quarles Jr. Sister in law to Dorothy M. Quarles of Aurora, CO, and is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Margaret was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many.

Fred W Leach, of Carver, passed away on December 20, 2013. He was 91 years old.
Beloved father of Joan Elizabeth Bailey of Jacksonville, Florida and Beth Ann Survoy of Bradenton, Florida.
Cherished grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 8. Mr. Leach is also survived by his special friend of 28 years Barbara M. Page
Fred was in the United States Navy during WWII and active in the Masons since 1948. In his later years Fred lived in South Meadow Village in Carver, and was elected to several terms on the Board of Directors for the Village Co-op. Fred was always active in whatever Methodist Church he attended. He was a diehard Red Sox Fan and considered himself extremely lucky to have experienced three World Series in his life time.
Mr. Leach was laid to rest with military honors at the MA National in Bourne.

Daniel A. Havey, of Carver, passed away quietly, with his family by his side, on January 5, 2014. He was 64 years old. Beloved husband of 45 years to Marsha Havey. Loving father of Christine and her husband Kurt Dietlin of Plymouth, and Heather Sanson of Carver. Brother of Nancy Hickey of Whitman, Edward and his wife Deborah Havey of Plymouth, and Katheryn Hadley of Plymouth. Brother in law to James Hadley of Plymouth. Cherished grandfather of Lacey, Jacob, and Emma. Daniel is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as his close friends.

Mr. Havey worked for 37 years in construction for Verizon. He coached many teams for his children, and loved traveling, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family.

Lilia L. (Pacheco) Silva, of Carver formerly of New Bedford, died on January 17th at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston at the age of 85. She is survived by her beloved husband Jayme Silva of Carver and her loving children Jayme Silva Jr. of Bourne, Inga Silva of Sunnyvale, CA; Enid Silva of New Bedford, Dusten Silva of New Bedford and Peter Silva of Plymouth. She also leaves her sister Alede Kearley of Wareham, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Lilia was born and raised in New Bedford and has lived in Carver for 42 years. She enjoyed knitting, crotcheting, was a talented stitcher and often made her own clothes. She especially enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd from 6 to 8 PM at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 23rd at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Carver at 10 AM followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth.

Margaret (Santos) Monteiro, 88, of Carver, passed away on January 22, 2014, one week short of her 89th birthday. Born in Carver, she is the daughter of the late John Santos, and Rosemond Santos (Silva). She loved the Bible, and was an active member of the Carver congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 70 years. Margaret was a retired Nurse’s Aide at Taunton State Hospital. She loved to dance and enjoyed listening to music, especially the silky voice of Nat King Cole. She also looked forward to spending valuable time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Darrolyn Rocha of Carver, Erwin Monteiro, Sr. and his wife Bonnie of Phoenix, AZ, and Gene Monteiro and his wife Eilene of Cranston, RI. She is also survived by her siblings: Carl (Big John) Santos, Sr, Mary Almeida, Mitchell Santos, Sr., Jerome Santos, Sr., and Darrell Silva, Sr., all of Carver. Cherished grandmother of; Erwin Jr, Joseph Jr, Dana, Robin, Dwayne, Melanie, Tiffany, Michele, Jodi, and Keri, as well as 14 great grandchildren.

Ann Marie Brown 84, of Plymouth passed away at home on January 23rd, surrounded by her loving family. Ann leaves her husband of over 65 years, Russell Francis Brown of Plymouth, and their children Kathleen Whipple of Taunton, Russell Francis Brown Jr. of Norwell, Kenneth Brown of Plymouth, and Bette-Jean Martin of Carver. Ann was born in Plymouth the daughter of Charles and Ellen Louise (O’Conner) Cordino. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1947. Ann worked in the Plymouth School Lunch Program. Brother of Lori Yerxa and her husband Jeff of Key West, FL. Edward is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and close friends, and will be sadly missed by his dog “Isabelle”. Edward was born and raised in Chelsea, and worked for the BFI Corp. in Quincy for many years. He loved to spend time with his family, and cherished his two girls, Samantha, and Giavanna. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 15th from 10-12:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Homes, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver with a funeral service set to begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private. A scholarship fund has been set up to benefit Edward’s children.
