Bruce E. Walton, of Carver, passed away on April 17, 2013. He was 59 years old. Mr. Walton was emplyed by Wollaston Alloy’s in Braintree for 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, working on cars, playing softball with his daughters, and spending time working with his Dad at the family cottage in Antrim, NH. He is survived by his beloved wife Susan. Loving father of Lisa and Noelle Walton. Cherished son of the late Pauline Walton, and Neuman E. Walton Jr and his wife Carol of Braintree. Brother of Nacy Davis of Ashburnham, Scott Walton of Methuen, and Alan Walton of Mendon. Step brother to Kristi Frisbee of Pembroke, and Gina Johnson of NH. Bruce is also survived by 12 Nieces and Nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 22nd from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 28th at 2:00 PM at the South Congregational Church, 1075 Washington St, Braintree. Samuel B. Funk Jr., age 86, passed away on Friday April 26, 2013 at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Jean (Hansen) Funk and is survived by his children, Sandra Kowalski and her husband Henry of Abington, Judith Kingston and her husband Ross of Maine, Patricia Batson and her husband Thomas of Abington and Samuel B. Funk III and his wife Valjean of California. Samuel also leaves 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sam was born in Peoria, IL and lived in Abington 50 years before becoming a resident of Carver. He was a Machinist for Proctor and Gamble for 38 years. Samuel served his country in the Marines on board the S.S. Macon during World War II and was discharged at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station. A Funeral Service was private at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sam’s memory to the charity of your choice. Michael Joseph Erwin, 65, of Carver died Saturday May 4, 2013 of a heart attack resulting in a one-car accident. Michael was born on April 2, 1948, in Quincy Massachusetts. The son of a career Army Officer, Mike traveled extensively within the United States and across Germany. After graduating High School in Alexandria, Virginia, he joined the Navy where he was a Third Class Petty Officer. After serving in the Navy, Mike worked as a General Motors Mechanic, a Systems Trouble Shooter for the Foxboro Company and as a Systems Facilitator for Schlumberger Electronics. After working for Schlumberger for eleven years, Mike settle down and opened a Feed business, working out of his father’s farm Char-Mar Stables. Mike had a passion for the outdoors and became a member and instructor at the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club located in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He became a state and international instructor for gun safety and was instrumental in building the clubs state-of-the-art indoor shooting range. He is preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Charles and Marion Erwin of Carver, Massachusetts. Mike is survived by his brother Brian Erwin of Chesapeake, Virginia, and two sisters Mary Erwin of Taunton, Massachusetts, and Nancy Barr of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Mr. Erwin will be interred at the MA National Cemetery with a private service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

She was the beloved wife of Jim Anshewitz; loving mother of Jason Anshewitz of Weymouth and dear sister of Joe and Jim. Barbara is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ronald S. Anusewicz, 65, died peacefully, at home on June 8th surrounded by his family. Beloved son of the late Joseph and Edna Anusewicz, he is survived by his brother Joseph and his wife Lorraine, his brother Robert, and many nieces and nephews. Ronnie was born on January 12, 1948 in Boston. Following graduation from Hyde Park High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Ronnie was an engaging conversationalist. His lifelong passions were fishing, photography, music, NASCAR, World War II history and in the many activities in which his nieces and nephews participated

A visiting hour will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 619 State Road (Rte 3A) Plymouth, (Manomet) on Saturday June 15 at 9:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Manomet Cemetery.

Marshall R. Ball, age 90, of Carver, formerly of Mendon, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay.

He was born in Framingham, the son of the late Walter & Bessie (McBurnie) Ball. For over three years, Marshall served his country in the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II. He was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Marshall was the beloved husband of the late Mary C. (Dillon) Ball. He is survived by loving cousins and dear friends.

A visitation period will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, (Route 58), Carver, on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 10:30-11:30 AM, with a funeral service at 11:30 AM.

Interment services with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Bennington Boulevard, Bourne at 12:45 PM.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Bertha (Wilson) Murphy. For many years, Mary worked for the Weymouth Police Department.

Mary was the beloved wife of Peter J. Murphy, Jr. and the late George H. Foy; devoted mother of George Foy, Kathleen Maden, Patricia Hasenfuss; loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and dear sister of Christos Murphy and the late Joseph Murphy, Lillian Maynard and Janet Sherrick.

Cherished grandfather of Michele Modestino Redington and her husband Greg, LeeAnn Modestino, Deborah Nicholl and her husband Paul, Suzanne Dozios and her husband Tobin, Nicole Egan and her husband Owen, and James D’Angelo and his wife Kim. Geraldine V. Griffith, of Carver, passed away on July 16, 2013. She was 82 years old. Beloved wife of 42 years to Clark A. Griffith. Loving mother of Suzzanne Robertson Lyons and her husband William C. Lyons of Jamaica Plain, and Cameron Dale Robertson and his wife Beverly Ann of CA. Brother of Gordon Miller of MD. Cousin of Ralph and Kari Wilbur of N. Andover, Charles Clayton of MA, Whitney Clayton of MA, and Bruce Clayton of NC.

Mrs. Griffith is a graduate of the Baldwin School for Girls in Pennsylvania, and also attended Wheaton College. She was a special needs/elementary school teacher in Stoughton, Carver, and Plymouth. She was an original leader of the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Assoc cooking contest, and actively promoted all things cranberries. She was a kind hearted woman who will be missed by all.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 19th from 5-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 11:00 AM at the United Parish of Carver, 115 Main St (Rt. 58). Burial will be private. TAUNTON – Jane Mary (Benson) Schraut, wife of Lawrence Schraut, Jr., died at her Taunton home on July 11, 2013.
She was 73.
Born, raised and educated in Middleboro, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Fitzgerald) Benson.
A self-employed cranberry farmer, she operated Cedar Brook Cranberry Harvest in Carver for many years until retiring two years ago.
She was a member of the Rochester Chapel.
Mrs. Schraut enjoyed gardening, and working long hours.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she leaves her son, Edward Curley of North Falmouth; and her daughter, Linda Silvia and her husband Edward of Taunton; her sister, Janice O’Connor of Wareham; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beacon Hospice, 32 Resnik Road, Suite 3, Plymouth, MA 02360.

Camille Emma (Cataldo) Palombo of Boca Raton, Florida died peacefully at Wingate at Silver Lakes in Kingston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, July 23. Born in Medford where she attended St. Clement’s School, she was the daughter of the late Pellegrino “William” and Rose Marie (Galluccio) Cataldo. After marrying she moved to Arlington, where she enjoyed membership in the Arlington Garden Club. In the early 1980′s she moved to Boca Raton, Florida where she belonged to The Women’s Club.

Camille was the beloved wife of the late Albert M. Palombo and devoted mother of William Palombo and his wife Marty of Portsmouth, RI, Albert Palombo of Boca Raton, FL, Camille Rose Palombo of Medford, NJ, Raymond Palombo and his wife Maureen “Sully” of Hanson, and Diane Palombo of Carver. She was the loving grandmother of Kristin, Alexander, Timothy, Vita Palombo, and Ben Schwamb and great grandmother of Isabel Hughes, Rowan and Serafina Palombo. Sister of the late Louis and Estelle Cataldo, Camille is also survived by nieces and nephews Frederick Morris and his family, Steve and Ronald Cataldo and their families, Raymond, Almena and Marc Palombo and their families.

A funeral service will be held from The Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Saturday, July 27 at 9 AM followed by a mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 26 from 4 through 8 p.m.

A memorial service will also be held in Boca Raton, FL at a later date.

Thomas Anthony Conroy, 23, of Carver, died July 21, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born June 15, 1990 in Boston, the son of Kevin and Carol (Mirrione) Conroy. He attended Carver schools and graduated from Carver High School in 2008, where he was very involved in the music program.
Thomas was truly loved and appreciated by all who encountered him. He was a sweet, genuine and gentle person. He brought smiles to many faces with his amazing sense of humor and ability to be silly. Beyond his amazing personality, Thomas was also an accomplished musician who sang and played guitar and drums. He was a hard worker and was very happy to be a part of the CabbyShack family. He also played soccer throughout his elementary and middle school years. He will be greatly missed and will always hold a very special place in the hearts of his family, friends and many others who only got to know him for a short time.
Thomas is survived by his parents Kevin and Carol of Carver; his brothers Daniel, Michael, Matt, Erick and his sisters Samantha, Vanessa, Amanda, Angel and Brianna. He also leaves his maternal nieces and nephews, Clarissa, Tiffany, Mark, Alia and Caiden. Thomas’ large family also included maternal grandparents, paternal and maternal aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by many close friends, including his lifelong friends Dan Confar and Erick Eaton of Carver.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm. A private funeral will be held on Wednesday in Carver. Armand A. Poirier, of Carver, formerly of Brockton, passed away on August 3, 2013 at the age of 88. Armand was a decorated World War II Army veteran, and was a Silver Star recipient. He was a member of the New England Carpenters Union for 41 years, and took great pleasure in helping family and friends with countless building and remodeling projects. He was a devoted Catholic, a longtime communicant of St. Peters Church as well as serving as an usher for many years. Armand was an avid golfer, and longtime member of the Halifax Country Club. He loved all New England sports teams, traveling, dancing, playing horseshoes and many casino trips. Husband of the late Helen (Yesucevitz) Poirier, and the late Genevieve (Lowe) Poirier. Loving father of Linda Tetrault and her husband James of Randleman, NC, Donna Daylor of Carver, and Richard and his wife Janet Poirier of Middleboro. Armand is also survived by eight grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Esther was the beloved wife of James G. McCain for 68 years; loving mother of Charlotte L. Kevin Barry Conroy, 61, of Carver, died August 12, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol Mirrione Conroy, of Carver, as well as his loving children Samantha, Vanessa, Daniel, Michael, Amanda, Matthew, Erick, Angel, Brianna, and his recently deceased son Thomas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Clarissa, Tiffany, Mark, Alia, Olivia, and Caiden.
He was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Conroy, and brother of the late Jackie. Kevin is survived by his sister Maureen, her husband Jim, and his brother Jimmy. He also leaves his mother- and father-in-law, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Kevin was born February 14, 1952 in Jamaica, New York. Following their marriage 40 years ago, Kevin and Carol moved to Massachusetts and have resided in Carver for the past 34 years. Kevin enjoyed his work as an IT tech.
Kevin was an amazing and selfless man who always put his family first. He was so loved and respected by family, friends, and his peers. Kevin was a sweet, genuine, and gentle person. He enjoyed playing theguitar, drawing, photography, and home improvement projects. He will be greatly missed and will always hold a very special place in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (rt. 58) in Carver. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd Funeral Home, with interment following at Union Cemetery in Carver. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Thomas Conroy Memorial Scholarship Fund.Donations can be made at any Rockland Trust Bank or mailed to Rockland Trust, 124 Main Street, Carver, MA 02330.

Gerald “Jerry” Nute 8/12/2013 Carver, MA

Gerald “Jerry” Francis Nute, of Carver, passed away peacefully on August 12th at home with his family. He is survived by his wife Lynda (Sussan), daughter Allyson Nute of Boston, son and daughter-in-law Shaun and Melissa Nute of Naples, FL and brother Raymond Nute, sister-in-law Hong and niece Lisa of Stone Mountain, GA, along with many extended family members. He is also the brother of the late Judy Badore (Nute).

Jerry was born to the late Mae Bell (Carrico) and the late Robert S. Nute in Hanover. He graduated from Silver Lake High School and worked for many years as a warehouseman at Shaw’s, Reebok and most recently, Standard Register. He spent his evenings helping Lynda run their small business, Sew It All. Jerry loved music, woodworking, fixing computers for his friends and family and was an avid online gamer.

Memorial visitation hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home at 116 Main St. in Carver from 4pm-8pm on August 16th. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11am on Saturday, August 17th with a reception to follow at United Church of Carver, 115 Main St., Carver. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jerry’s name to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.

Sally Ann (D’Amelio) McGarigal, age 83, of Carver, passed away peacefully in her home on August 15th surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John T. McGarigal whom she met while teaching in Duxbury. Born in Brookline, she was the daughter of the late Winifred E, D’Amelio of Duxbury and Michael D’Amelio of Boston. She is survived by her nine children; Paul McGarigal of Orlando, FL, Ellen McGarigal of Wareham, Brian McGarigal of Duxbury, Joan McCarthy of Carver, Donna Longley of Saco, ME, Kevin McGarigal of Shutesbury, Sean McGarigal of Galloway, NJ, Kara McGarigal of Beverly, and Mark McGarigal of Bend, OR/Beijing, China. She also had 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sally graduated from Roslindale High in 1947 and then Bridgewater State Collage in 1951 majoring in Physical Education. She traveled the world with her late husband while he worked for the NEA as well as with her mother and her sisters, Mary Garver, Pat Maurizi, Alice Mason, and Carmella Loring. She is well known for her painting, word carvings, doll clothes, flower arrangments, gardening, and costumes.
Sally was an active member of the community. Not only was she “Mom” to scores of other children, she taught CCD classes in Duxbury in the 1970’s, volunteered at the Duxbury Thrift shop for 23 years, and directed & starred in an annual Broadway show for at least 15 years at Waterview Village, Carver.
Her love of life, kind hearted nature, caring & sensitive personality, easy going spirit as well as her chocolate chip cookies will be dearly missed.
Visitation at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, (rt 106) Kingston, will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 10:00am – 12:00 noon, followed by a private celebration of her life.
